Thriving in Exile
We live in a rootless culture where many of us are constantly looking for “home”. Like people transplanted to a foreign place we often are hesitant to allow ourselves to fully live where we are. Our roots are withdrawn and withering unless we embrace the soil of our surroundings, world, and where God has placed us.
God’s people were confronted with this reality when they were relocated to Babylon 2500 years ago. They left their homes, culture, and way of life and felt that they could not adapt to a new place. But God called them to thrive in Babylon, and make a home there; which they did. They settled down, embraced where they were, opened up to each other and to God, and formed a new community of faith. Join us this Fall at AACN as we learn how to thrive in Exile.
