Definition of “The Church” (written by Sandy Isfeld)
“The local church is a group of redeemed people in any era who have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
In obedience to God’s Word, they gather as a tribe within their culture for worship of the Triune God, the teaching of Scripture, and the celebration of the sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
They organize themselves under qualified biblical leadership to be a missional community which makes disciples by taking the Gospel of the Kingdom into their culture and world through proclamation of truth and acts of compassion.
They do this all to the Glory of God, and for the fulfillment of their identity, and for the good of humanity.”
